CASE STUDY
Sony Separate/Together
A unique digital experience of the world’s largest model railroad.
+ Art Direction
+ UI Design
Separate/Together was a creative partnership between Weiden+Kennedy Portland and Bossa NYC, focused on showcasing Sony’s new QX100 lens-style camera through a unique digital experience of Northlandz, the world’s largest model railroad.
We created a Google Street View interactive version of Northlandz using thousands of photos captured with the QX100’s macro lens. Users can explore Northlandz in 3-D and travel through its different neighborhoods using the train’s POV, as well as pan and zoom, snap photos and share with friends through social media.
Users navigate the site by jumping to distinct “neighborhoods” with their own unique look and feel, represented by a unique logotype and color palette. Like Google Street view, they can pan & zoom to explore every nook and cranny. In each neighborhood, users could click on vantage points to get a closer look at the details or use the UI to pan & zoom. To distinguish each neighborhood we created a unique logotype and color palette that captures the feel of the space.
The site is fully responsive, with no loss of features or controls when viewing on mobile.
A UI kit was created with detailed instructions for a seamless developer handoff.
